While teacher’s unions do tend to hinder improving public education , they are not the most basic cause of the downfall of the American education system. That cause is the changing culture of America from one where you work hard teaching and education earn what you deserve to one where you are given what you think you deserve. This has invaded the youth of American. No longer is education something that one must strive for and work at to earn but it is something that is somehow magically given to you. Education is called a right, but a right is an innate freedom that cannot be taken away by government. Education is not innate or a freedom; it is a lifelong process of continual effort. For example, the best students believe that if you show up to class and do enough work to get the A, you will somehow be prepared for college and the world. However, that is in no way an education. Showing up to class does not equal an education but that is the new theory existing in America. The real problem with the American education system are the students.
